The Excellence of Learning the Quran
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it" (Sahih al-Bukhari 5027). Learning to recite the Quran with proper Tajweed is a noble and deeply rewarding spiritual endeavor.
Phase 1: Noorani Qaida & Arabic Articulation Points (Makharij)
Beginners start with basic letter recognition and precise vocal tract placement:
- The Throat (Al-Halq): Letters like Hamzah (ء), Haa (هـ), Ayn (ع), Haa (ح), Ghayn (غ), and Khaa (خ).
- The Tongue (Al-Lisan): Specific articulation points for Qaf, Kaf, Jeem, Sheen, Ya, and the dental letters (Daad, Taa, Dhaal, Thaa).
- The Lips (Ash-Shafatayn): Letters formed with lips: Baa, Meem, Waw, and Faa.
Phase 2: Fundamental Rules of Tajweed
1. Rules of Noon Sakinah & Tanween (أحكام النون الساكنة والتنوين)
- Idh-har (Clear pronunciation): When followed by throat letters (ء, هـ, ع, ح, غ, خ).
- Idgham (Merging): Merging into the letters of Yarmaloon (ي، ر، م، ل، و، ن), with or without nasal sound (Ghunnah).
- Iqlab (Conversion): Converting Noon into Meem when followed by Baa (ب).
- Ikhfa (Concealment): Light nasalization before the remaining 15 letters.
2. Rules of Meem Sakinah & Qalqalah (Echo Sound)
Mastering Qalqalah (echoing bounce) on the five letters Qutb Jad (ق، ط، ب، ج، د) when they carry a Sukoon, creating clarity in pronunciation without adding a vowel.
