The Spiritual Excellence of Remembering Allah (Dhikr)
Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) brings profound peace to the human heart: "Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured" (Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:28). The Prophet ﷺ stated: "The comparison of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not is like that of the living and the dead" (Sahih al-Bukhari 6407).
The Five Primary Sunnah Adhkar
- 1. SubhanAllah (سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ): Glory be to Allah — Exalting Allah above every imperfection.
- 2. Alhamdulillah (الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ): All praise belongs to Allah — Fills the scale of good deeds (Sahih Muslim 223).
- 3. Allahu Akbar (اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ): Allah is the Greatest — Affirming divine majesty above all things.
- 4. Astaghfirullah (أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ): I seek forgiveness from Allah — Erases sins and opens doors of divine sustenance.
- 5. La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ): There is no power nor strength except through Allah — A treasure from beneath the Throne (Sahih al-Bukhari 4205).
