Prophetic Guidance Through Human History
The Holy Quran explicitly mentions 25 noble Prophets and Messengers by name, spanning from Prophet Adam (the father of humanity) to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (the Seal of the Prophets). Their stories serve as divine guideposts of unwavering monotheism (Tawheed), steadfast patience (Sabr), moral courage, and divine mercy (Surah Hud 11:120).
1. Prophet Adam (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — The First Human & Prophet
Created from clay and honored by Allah, Adam and Hawwa resided in Paradise. Misled by Iblis's deceit, they ate from the forbidden tree. Unlike Satan who persisted in arrogance, Adam immediately took accountability and made heartfelt repentance: "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers" (Surah Al-A'raf 7:23). Allah accepted their repentance, establishing that humble Tawbah overcomes sin.
2. Prophet Idris / Enoch (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Man of Truth & Elevated Station
Praised in the Quran as a man of steadfast truth and a prophet whom Allah raised to a high station (Surah Maryam 19:56–57). Early Islamic scholarship recognizes his profound scholarly wisdom, piety, and disciplined devotion as among the earliest teachers of humanity.
3. Prophet Nuh / Noah (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — 950 Years of Steadfast Da'wah
When humanity first succumbed to idolatry, Prophet Nuh called his people night and day for 950 years with boundless patience (Surah Nuh 71:5). Commanded by Allah, he constructed the Ark amidst mockery. When the Great Deluge came, only the believers aboard were saved. Even Nuh's rebellious son perished, proving that lineage without righteous faith cannot grant salvation.
4. Prophet Hud (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Messenger to the People of 'Ad
Sent to the mighty civilization of 'Ad in southern Arabia who built towering palaces and boasted in their physical strength (Surah Fussilat 41:15). Hud urged them to abandon idolatry and tyrannical oppression. When they persisted in defiance, a furious barren gale destroyed their monuments while Hud and the believers were rescued (Surah Hud 11:50–60).
5. Prophet Salih (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Sent to Thamud & The Miracle of the She-Camel
Sent to Thamud who carved dwellings into mountain rock in Al-Hijr. Allah granted them a miraculous She-Camel as a test of reverence and resource sharing. When rebellious chieftains hamstrung the camel, a deafening blast and earthquake overtook the oppressors, while Salih and the faithful were saved (Surah Al-A'raf 7:73–79).
6. Prophet Ibrahim / Abraham (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Khalilullah (Friend of Allah)
The champion of pure monotheism who challenged idol-worshipping tyrants, survived the raging fire by Allah's command, and submitted willingly to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail until ransomed by Allah. Together, Ibrahim and Ismail raised the foundations of the Kaaba in Makkah (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:127).
7. Prophet Lut / Lot (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Caller to Moral Purity & Witness to Justice
Commissioned to Sodom and Gomorrah to denounce unprecedented obscenities and public corruption. Lut urged them to preserve natural Fitrah and family sanctity. Escaping with his righteous daughters before dawn, the corrupt cities were overturned and marked with baked stones (Surah Hud 11:77–83).
8. Prophet Ismail / Ishmael (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — The Patient Son (Dhabiullah)
The firstborn son of Ibrahim, settled as an infant in the valley of Makkah where the Zamzam well welled up. Exemplified complete submission to Allah during the sacrifice test, co-built the Kaaba with his father, and is praised in the Quran for fulfilling promises (Surah Maryam 19:54–55).
9. Prophet Ishaq / Isaac (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Forefather of Israelite Prophets
Granted as a glad tiding to Sarah and Ibrahim in old age. Praised in the Quran as a righteous prophet endowed with strength in good deeds and spiritual vision (Surah Sad 38:45), fathering Prophet Ya'qub (Israel).
10. Prophet Ya'qub / Jacob (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Embodiment of Beautiful Patience
Endured decades of sorrow over the separation from Yusuf with dignifying patience (Sabrun Jameel), never despairing of Allah's mercy: "I only complain of my suffering and grief to Allah" (Surah Yusuf 12:86). On his deathbed, he extracted a solemn covenant of monotheism from all his sons.
11. Prophet Yusuf / Joseph (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — From the Well to the Throne
Cast into a well by jealous brothers, sold into servitude in Egypt, resisted temptation with steadfast Taqwa, and was unjustly imprisoned. 12. Prophet Ayyub / Job (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Standard of Patience & Gratitude
Tested with the loss of immense wealth, children, and agonizing illness over many years. His tongue never ceased praising Allah. Supplicating with profound modesty (Surah Al-Anbiya 21:83), Allah cured him with a miraculous cool spring and restored his family and abundance.
13. Prophet Shu'ayb / Jethro (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Champion of Economic Justice
Known as Khatib al-Anbiya (The Orator of the Prophets) for his eloquent da'wah to Madyan. Warned against commercial fraud, unjust weights, and road robberies, proclaiming that lawful earnings are far superior to ill-gotten wealth (Surah Hud 11:84–95).
14. Prophet Musa / Moses (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Kalimullah (Spoken to by Allah)

17. Prophet Dawud / David (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — The Just King & Reciter of Zabur
Slew Jalut (Goliath) by Allah's leave and governed as a just prophet-king. Given the Zabur; iron was softened in his hands to forge chainmail armor. Ate exclusively from the work of his own hands and was praised for the best prayer and fast (Surah Sad 38:17–26).
18. Prophet Sulayman / Solomon (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) — Wise King of Unmatched Dominion
